2017 SEA Games: Agatha Wong captures gold for PH in wushu

Agatha Wong claimed a gold for the Philippines after topping the women’s taijiquan event at the 29th SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 22) — Agatha Wong secured a gold for the Philippines in the taijiquan event on Tuesday at the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The gold came a day after settling for silver in women’s taijijian at the games.

Taijiquan is characterized by its slow and graceful motions and its combination of hard and soft techniques.

Taijijian features the double-edged straight sword employed with Taijiquan principles. It is defined by slow motions with a use of bursting force.

Wong bested nine other participants in the wushu event with a score of 9.66 points.

Basma Lachkar of Brunei was second with 9.54, while Singapore’s Lin Ying Ho placed third with 9.44.
