Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 2) — Some flights were canceled, and ferry operations suspended on Wednesday due to bad weather brought about by thunderstorms in parts of the country.

Authorities announced the following flight cancellations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as of 1 p.m.

Cebu Pacific

-5J 647/648 Manila-Puerto Princesa-Manila

-5J 325/326 Manila-Legazpi-Manila

PAL Express

National weather bureau PAGASA said parts of the country can expect heavy rain throughout the day. No tropical cyclone is forecast, but the rain is due to the seasonal southwest monsoon or habagat.

Moderate rain and thunderstorms are forecast over Luzon, including Metro Manila, the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley in the north; Central Luzon, Bicol, Eastern and Central Visayas; Caraga and the Zamboanga peninsula in Mindanao.

Heavy rain which affected visibility and current along the Pasig River prompted the Metro Manila Development Authority as well to suspend operations of the Pasig River Ferry System today. The ferry system traverses 28-kilometers of the Pasig River which runs through Metro Manila.
