Although Typhoon Gorio slightly accelerated on its way out of the Philippines late Friday night, it has further strengthened, thus intensifying the southwest monsoon (habagat).
Gorio continues to move northwest towards Taiwan at 17 kilometers per hour, compared to an earlier 15 kph speed.
Its maximum sustained winds and gustiness also increased to 130 kph and 160 kph, respectively — from a previous of 120 kph and 145 kph.
