(CNN Philippines) — The Philippine Azkals are scheduled to take on China in a friendly match on June 7 in Guangzhou, China.

This will be the first match between the two countries since the 2000 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.

China triumphed over the Philippines, 8-0, in their last meeting.

As of May 24, China is ranked 81st in the world, while the Philippines holds the 127th spot.

According to the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), the friendly will serve as they build up for the Azkals ahead of their AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Tajikistan.

The Filipinos opened the current round of the AFC Asian Cup qualification campaign with a 4-1 thrashing of Nepal in Manila.

The Azkals will take on the Tajiks on June 13 at Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
