Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 5) — A new medium for fashion enthusiasts welcomes an old name as American actress, socialite, and fashion icon Gloria Vanderbilt joined Instagram in late April.
Vanderbilt’s son and CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper also announced her entry into the social media platform on Wednesday, posting a photo with his mother and his late brother, Carter Vanderbilt Cooper.
“My mom just joined Instagram,” Cooper wrote in a caption. “She thinks it is the best thing ever… Now she emails me several times a day asking for advice about what to post next.”
Cooper added that his mother “can’t believe that many people would want to follow her.”
As of publishing, Vanderbilt has just over 57,000 followers. She has posted photos from previous photo shoots, interiors, and her art.
Cooper posted a link to her Instagram account a few days before, along with a family photo and caption saying “Not sure I should be encouraging this.”
The 93-year-old heiress was thrust into the public eye following a high-profile trial for her custody in 1934. Hailing from a prominent family, Vanderbilt has since made her own name, selling millions of designer jeans and other luxury items. She has also authored several books.
