
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Philippines is set to have a national football league this April.
The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) announced they are set to issue licenses to eight clubs that will form the Philippines Football League (PFL).
According to the PFF, eight clubs have successfully complied with all of the criteria imposed by their Club Licensing Regulations.
The league will be played in a home-and-away format, with each team representing a certain region.
The top four clubs after two rounds will compete in a final series, with all matches to be played every Saturday and Sunday.
Here are the eight teams and their nominated home stadiums for the PFL’s maiden season:
Ceres Negros FC (Panaad Park Football Stadium)
Davao Aguilas FC (Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Stadium)
Global Cebu FC (University of San Carlos Football Stadium)
Ilocos United FC (President Elpidio Quirino Stadium-Vigan)
JPV Marikina FC (Marikina Sports Complex)
Kaya FC-Makati (University of Makati Football Stadium)
Stallion Laguna FC (Binan Football Stadium)
Loyola Meralco Sparks FC (Rizal Memorial Football Stadium)
The PFF is set to formally launch the PFL on April 20, with the first match day scheduled on April 29.
