Police from Leyte is this year’s “Ganda Pulis”

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 29) — Instead of a gun, a police officer paraded a crown and a bouquet of flowers Tuesday night.

PO 1 Arla Ray Paciencia, “Ganda Pulis 2017” winner, is an advocate of many causes, especially the vulnerable sector.

“My advocacy sa video ko po sa beautiful inside is to uplift the morale of women especially those with physical deficiency and insecurities among themselves,” Paciencia said, who is diagnosed with vitiligo.

“Ganda Pulis,” or roughly translated as “beautiful police,” is a pageant organized by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Community Relations Group. It aims to empower beauty through advocacy.

Paciencia, a registered nurse turned law student, said she also wants the PNP to continue its medical and dental missions.

She is also assigned in PNP Region 8 Headquarters in Palo, Leyte – one of the provinces heavily devastated by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in 2013.

Paciencia joined the police force in the same year, and stayed in Tacloban during the onslaught of the super typhoon.
