Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Social Security System (SSS) pensioners can now withdraw their additional P1,000 benefit.
In a statement Thursday, SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Dooc said more than 2 million pensioners will be able to withdraw the benefit on Friday.
“The remaining retroactive amount will be received in the next two Fridays of March 10 and 17,” Dooc said.
SSS allotted around P6.9 billion for the release of the additional benefit for the first quarter alone, on top of the P7.4 billion released per month since January 2017 for regular benefits.
The additional benefit was signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on February 22, for more than 2.04 million retirees, survivors and permanently disabled pensioners.
The number of pensioners is expected to increase by about 350,000 next year.
