
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Tropical Depression Auring has maintained its strength as it heads towards the Surigao provinces, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Saturday.
In its 11 p.m. report, the weather bureau said Auring was last located 185 km east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur at 10 p.m. Saturday, carrying maximum winds of up to 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
It is moving west northwest at 7 kph.
PAGASA raised Signal No. 1 in the following areas, where residents can expect 30-60 kph winds in the next 36 hours:

Southern Leyte
Mindanao
Agusan del Sur
Agusan del Norte
Surigao del Sur
Surigao del Norte (including Siargao Island)
Dinagat Island Province
Misamis Oriental
Misamis Occidental
Bukidnon
Camiguin
Davao del Norte
Northern Davao Oriental
Compostela Valley
Moderate to occasionally heavy rains are expected in Caraga, Leyte provinces, Northern Mindanao, Central Visayas, Negros Provinces, and Palawan.
Tropical Depression Auring is expected to make landfall over Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur between Sunday evening and Monday morning.
It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday.
