Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — After being waived by the Westchester Knicks in the NBA D-League, Filipino-American cager Bobby Ray Parks announces that he is returning to the Philippines and is eyeing to join a local squad for a tournament.
“I heard there’s a team that needed another Filipino to represent the country. You guys know me well, basta para sa bayan game ako dyan [Count me in if it’s for the country],” Parks said in a video posted on his official Instgram account on Wednesday.
“Wait for me, I’m coming home,” he added.
Alab Pilipinas, the Philippine representative in the Asean Basketball League (ABL), is coincidentally one local player short as of the moment.
Alab is set to debut on November 27 versus the Singapore Slingers at the Alonte Gym in Laguna.
The last time the 23-year-old Parks suited up for the country was during the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament with the Gilas Pilipinas team handled by Tab Baldwin.
