Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) – Filipino-American fighter Brandon Vera will stake his ONE Championship heavyweight belt for the first time against Japanese Hideki Sekine on December 2.
The 39-year-old California native faces Sekine in the main event of ONE Championship’s “Age of Domination” fight card at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Vera (14-7) claimed the inaugural ONE heavyweight crown in December 2015 after knocking out Paul Cheng in just 26 seconds.
This will be Vera’s third ONE Championship bout.
Known for his brute strength and technical grappling ability, heavyweight contender Sekine is set to make his ONE Championship debut. Sekine is unbeaten as a mixed martial artist with seven wins and no losses.
Another Filipino-American is scheduled for a return as Mark Striegl battles Brazilian Rafael Nunes.
After being on the sidelines for almost a year, Striegl (14-2) will lock horns with one of the top lightweight fighters around in Nunes (10-1).
Striegl will look to bounce back from an upset loss to replacement Reese McClaren last December.
Here are the scheduled bouts so far:
Brandon Vera vs. Hideki Sekine
Mark Streigl vs. Rafael Nunes
Geje Eustaquio vs. Toni Tauru
Honorio Banario vs. Rajinder Singh Meena
Edward Kelly vs. Sunoto
April Osenio vs. Jenny Huang
Danny Kingad vs. Eugene Toquero
