PAGASA warns of storm surges, flashfloods, landslides over areas affected by #KarenPH

The local government of Baler, Aurora reports zero death and one injury when Typhoon "Karen" (international name "Sarika") made landfall over Baler, Aurora Sunday morning.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Weather bureau PAGASA cautioned the public of possible occurrence of storm surges along coastal communities, and flashfloods and landslides over all areas within Typhoon Karen’s track.

PAGASA also discouraged fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts to venture out over the Northern, Eastern, and Southern seaboards of Luzon.

Signal Nos. 3 and 2 have been lifted in all areas in the Philippines.

Signal No. 1 is hoisted over Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Benguet, and La Union.

In its 11 a.m. advisory Sunday, PAGASA said “Karen” has weakend further and is about to exit the landmass via Pangasinan.

The eye of Typhoon Karen was located in Bolinao, Pangasinan as of 10 a.m. Sunday.

Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 400 km diameter of the typhoon.

Meanwhile, at 10 a.m. Sunday, a severe tropical storm with the international name “Haima” was estimated at 1,615 km East of Visayas. It is expected to enter the eastern boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday.
