
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Local government officials have declared class suspensions for Saturday and Sunday, citing the effects of inclement weather brought by Typhoon Karen.
As of 2 p.m. Saturday, classes have been called off in the following areas:
Saturday, October 15
Catanduanes (grade school to high school)
Cavite (afternoon classes in all levels)
Sunday, October 16
Valenzuela City (all public school-related activities, events, and make-up classes)
Marikina City (college NSTP classes)
Typhoon Karen (international name: Sarika) has further intensified as it continues to threaten the province of Catanduanes, state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday. Karen is expected to make landfall over Aurora early Sunday morning.
