Magnitude 5.3 earthquake hits Bolinao, Pangasinan

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Bolinao, Pangasinan Sunday night.

Although there were no reports of damage or injuries, aftershocks are expected after the initial tremor at 9:40 p.m.

Two aftershocks were recorded as of 7 in the morning Monday.

Roschele Ablan, science research assistant at the Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), said the quake was “moderately strong.”

Phivolcs recorded intensity of 4 in Alilem in Ilocus Sur and Lingayen, Alaminos City, Sual, and San Fabian in Pangasinan, and intensity 3 in San Emilio in Ilocus Sur and San Carlos and Dagupan City in Pangasinan.

Intensity 2 was recorded in Baguio City, Makati City, Pasig City, Quezon City, Pasay City, and San Fernando City and Bauang in La Union, and intensity 1 in Vigan City.
