Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Luzon Grid is on red alert status since 11 a.m. Saturday, as power reserves hit zero brought about by insufficient power supply.
National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) officials said blackouts are possible in Luzon until 3 p.m.
This comes after six power plants in Luzon were shut down on Saturday morning. Malaya 1, Calaca 1, and Kalayaan power plants are on limited capacity.
Power supplier Meralco advised its customers to save energy.
