Signaling glitch limits MRT operations

MRT operations were limited on Friday after a glitch in its signaling system. It also halted its full-line operations for over an hour during the morning rush hour due to a technical glitch.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — A glitch in the signaling system limited operations of the MRT on Friday afternoon (January 8).

Trains are running only from Shaw Boulevard to North Avenue and vice versa.

A “No MRT Operation” sign was posted at the southbound side of MRT Boni Avenue Station.

MRT commuters at Shaw Boulevard Station heading south have no choice but to look for another way to go home. Security guards stationed at the Shaw Boulevard and Boni Avenue stations told CNN Philippines that the limit in operations began at 2 p.m.

One commuter posted on Twitter a video of the train stopping right in the middle of the Guadalupe bridge around 2 p.m. It showed the passengers who were forced to disembark and walk the rest of the way to the station platform.
