Cagayan de Oro (CNN Philippines) — Independent presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe, during her campaign on Wednesday (April 20), expressed her concerns about rumors on possible cheating during the elections.
She also called out on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to address the problems raised on the overseas absentee voting, which she said is alarming.
Although the presidential candidate said there’s no need to formally write a letter to the Comelec for formal investigation, Poe said it is high time for the poll body to make a statement and make things clear.
As she campaigned in Mindanao, the senator was asked about her views on the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) and her plans in achieving long-lasting peace in the region.
Poe said not all provisions in the proposed measure should be granted. She said there should be more talks and consultations with different groups first before true and lasting peace in Mindanao is achieved.
Aside from the BBL, Poe also addressed the issue on power supply in Mindanao. She said it would be efficient to rehabilitate dams to make hydropower more reliable. If elected, Poe said, she will push for the use of clean energy.
While Poe ranked second in the recent Pulse Asia Survey commissioned by a television network, she is still hopeful that she will emerge victorious in the coming May 9 elections.
