Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Ateneo Lady Eagles will open their bid for a third consecutive title in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday (January 31).
The Lady Eagles tackle the NU Lady Bulldogs at 4 p.m. at The Arena in San Juan.

Expected to carry the cudgels for the Katipunan-based squad is reigning MVP Alyssa Valdez, who is in her fifth and final playing year.
Reinforcing her are Season 77 Finals MVP Amy Ahomiro, Bea de Leon, Jhoana Maraguinot, Mae Tajima, and setter Jia Morado.
Ateneo swept last season en route to the crown.
The Lady Bulldogs, meanwhile, will be bannered by Jaja Santiago, Myla Pablo, Jorelle Singh, and Ivy Perez under the tutelage of coach Roger Gorayeb.
The Lady Maroons of host school University of the Philippines will clash with University of the East in the curtain-raiser match at 2 p.m.
