NAIA to close runways for Japanese Emperor’s visit

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The runways of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport will be closed for two days for the visit of the Emperor and Empress of Japan.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) issued the advisory on Monday (January 25).

NAIA runways will be closed to commercial operations from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday (January 26) for the arrival of Emperor Akihito and his wife, Empress Michiko.

Runways will be closed again from 11 a.m. to 12. p.m. on Saturday (January 30) for their departure for Japan.

Cebu Pacific flight cancellations

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific has announced which of their flights have been cancelled due to the arrival of the Japanese monarchs and their entourage.

As of posting time, the following flights have been canceled:

The airline has facilitated the reaccommodation of affected passengers on the soonest available flights.

Those who are unable to take these flights may reschedule or rebook their trips within 30 days from original date of departure, or choose to fully refund their fares.
