Koronadal City (CNN Philippines) — Three people died in a vehicular accident along a national highway in Barangay Saravia, Koronadal City on Thursday morning (January 21).
Involved in the mishap was an 8-wheeler hauler loaded with soft drinks and a Bongo Frontier cargo truck loaded with dried fish.
The hauler truck, bearing the plate number UGV-561, was driven by 32-year-old Jomel Retardo.
Retardo was heading for Koronadal City when his truck collided head-on with the other vehicle.
Bystanders who witnessed the accident said the cargo truck overtook another vehicle and lost control as it veered to the other lane of the highway, where it hit the hauler.
The identities of the victims were not made available by authorities, saying that the next of kin must first be informed.
The long, well-paved national highway in Barangay Saravia has been the site of several accidents, some of it resulting in deaths.
