NBA: Bryant, Curry lead latest 2016 All-Star voting returns

Kobe Bryant and Steph Curry leads the overall voting for the NBA All-Star 2016 game, while LeBron James and Dwyane Wade pace the ballots in the East.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star activities at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto tips off in a few weeks, and the starting lineups for both the Western and Eastern conferences are looking much clearer.

Out in the West, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant who is likely to play in his 18th All-Star Game is the top vote-getter with 1,533,432 votes, while reigning MVP Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors takes second place with 1,206,467 votes, and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant rounds out the top three with 774,782 nods.

In the much-improved East, Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James paces the conference with 830,345 votes; Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade follows at second place with 399,757; and Indiana Pacers’ Paul George takes third place with 569,947 votes.

The ballots will remain open for fans to vote for their favorite NBA stars until January 18 (January 19 PHT).

The starters for the All-Star game will be presented on January 21 (January 22 PHT) by Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith, before tipoff of the Los Angeles Clippers’ visit to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The All-Star reserves will be selected by NBA coaches, and will be unveiled on January 28 (January 29 PHT).
