Members of LGBT community take part in Traslacion

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Every year, many members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community take part in the traditional Traslacion of the Black Nazarene.

Many contribute in designing and decorating the floats of the Nazarene replicas, and many others religiously attend the procession give thanks for the blessings they received.

And this year was no exception.

Christopher Aquino said he and his friends make it a point to come to the procession every year.

“Hindi lang ito para sa mga tunay na lalaki o tunay na babae. Kami rin po ay nilalang ng Diyos,” Aquino said.

[Translation: “This event is not only for straight guys and girls. We are also children of God.”

For Juday, being accepted by society for what they are is something she is praying for.

While Heaven Dizon said for members of the LGBT community, God remains number one in their hearts.

CNN Philippines’ Isabella Montano contributed to this report.
