Passengers rush back home after the holidays

Due to the volume of people, some of the passengers spilled out to the bus parking area and the traffic island across the street.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines)— The Araneta Center bus terminal in Cubao, Quezon City was jam-packed once again on Sunday (January 3) by passengers rushing to go back to provinces and to Metro Manila after the holidays.

Due to the volume of people, some of the passengers spilled out to the bus parking area and the traffic island across the street.

As classes resume on Monday (January 4), many are also expected to go back to provinces and to Metro Manila.

Authorities said at least 9,000 passengers have already booked tickets to head to Bicol and Visayas provinces. While as much as 4,000 passengers are expected to arrive Sunday at the Cubao terminal from provinces.

The passengers may need to be more patient, however, as trips to and from Bicol may be delayed — several main roads in Quezon province remain damaged by Typhoon Nona.
