Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) formally launched “PiliPinas,” the official theme of the 2016 presidential elections, on Monday (October 12).
The logo bearing the Philippine flag also shows a voter’s hand seemingly dropping a ballot in the ballot box. To highlight the importance of registration, the logo also has a fingerprint in its design.

The slogan “Tamang Pagboto, Tamang Pagbilang” emphasized the core message of Comelec for next year’s elections.
“Hindi lang po ito isang logo, hindi lang po ito isang slogan,” Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said.
“Ito po ay isang mensahe na nagpapaalala sa atin na ang kinabukasan po ay nasa ating mga kamay,” he added.
The official theme song was sung by the group Gravity together with the Comelec chorale.
The song also sends a strong message to voters, saying the voters should care enough for the country and that the future lies in their hands.
