Zamboanga City (CNN Philippines) — An Italian national, who owns a restaurant in Dipolog City, was abducted by still unidentified armed men on Wednesday evening (October 7).
Police and military sources identified the victim as Rolando del Torquio, the owner of Ur Choice Bistro Cafe at Barangay Maputak, Dipolog City.
Sources said that two unidentified men barged into the restaurant and abducted the Italian owner with the help of two other men who posed as customers.
The group escaped aboard a gray vehicle and then boarded a pump boat. Some sources, however, said that the vehicle used was a white van.
According to Task Force Zambasulta, the group headed west towards the coastal area of Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte.
Police are still conducting pursuit operations.
