2015 FIBA Asia Championship: Gilas ends second round with rout of India

The results sees the Philippines claim the top spot of Group E, and will face the fourth placed team of Group F in the quarterfinals.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Gilas Pilipinas ended the second round of the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship with a resounding 99-65 win over India on Tuesday (September 29) at the Changsha Social Work College gymnasium in Changsha, China.

Rising star Terrence Romeo swooshed in 20 markers, while Andray Blatche chipped in with 15.

India started out the contest strong after the opening tip to take a slim 17-16 lead over the Philippines in the first quarter.

But unfortunately for the Indians, the Filipinos found their groove as the game progressed and proceeded to dominate.

Already leading India 65-50 at the start of the final period of play, the Philippines went on a blistering 24-0 run to end the second round in style. The Indians had no answer against the Philippines as they conceded the 99-65 result.

Vishesh Bhriguvanshi paced India with 21 points.

The results sees the Philippines claim the top spot of Group E in the second round, and will face the fourth placed team of Group F in the quarterfinals on Thursday (October 1).
