Iloilo City (CNN Philippines) — Power was cut for three hours on Sunday (September 27) in the provinces of Iloilo, Capiz, and Aklan on Panay Island.

It was an emergency shutdown that lasted from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) had to do emergency maintenance of two 69-kilovolt lines — the Panit-an-Altavas and the Panit-an-Sara-Balasan.

“We do the maintenance on schedule, but this time it is an emergency shutdown because there really is a need to repair our lines before the situation worsens,” Michelle Visera, NGCP-Visayas corporate communications officer, said.

The shutdown affected franchise areas of Iloilo Electric Cooperative III, Capiz Electric Cooperative, and Aklan Electric Cooperative.
