Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) – Lawmakers supporting Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas said on Tuesday (September 22) that they are overwhelmed and grateful about his ranking in a recent survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
According to the SWS survey, Roxas ranked second – overtaking United Nationalist Alliance’s bet Jejomar Binay, but still behind independent candidate Sen. Grace Poe.
Cavite Rep. Francis Abaya said he and some LP lawmakers were with Roxas during his sorties and said he saw that people want to be closer to Roxas and would want to interact with him. For Abaya, this is the reason why Roxas’ ratings have gone up.
For his part, Akbayan Party List Rep. Ibarra Gutierrez has found it absurd that those against Roxas are now questioning the methodology of the SWS survey, even calling it misleading.
Gutierrez has advised those who are criticizing the survey and the improvement in Roxas’ ratings to instead rise up to the challenge like what they did when Roxas’ ratings were poor.
While Camiguin Rep. Xavier Jesus Romualdo thinks that Roxas’ ratings will go on an upward trend at a slow and steady pace.
Who will gain from Poe’s disqualification case?
When administration allies were asked who will gain from Poe’s disqualification case among all candidates, they said they do not want to speculate at this point.
They said, however, they will focus on letting the public know what Roxas is capable of bringing into the table
LP Political and Electoral Affairs chairman and Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice pointed out that Poe’s citizenship is not their problem anymore.
According to Erice, during Poe’s talks with the president, the senator was concerned of Binay possibly winning the elections instead of Roxas. Erice confidently told the media that speculation is now demolished by the results of the recent SWS survey.
