UAAP: NU beats Tigers for first win

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Alfred Aroga regained his old form to lift the NU Bulldogs past the UST Growling Tigers, 55-54, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) on Saturday (September 19) at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Cameroonian reinforcement fired eight of his total output 19 points in the fourth quarter, including the game-sealing jumper with 14.7 ticks to go.

“I didn’t really like that shot of Alfred,” bared NU coach Eric Altamirano.

“But that type of shot is all heart for Alfred.”

It was the first win for the Bulldogs (1-3), who dealt the Tigers their first loss in four outings.

“They played with a lot of heart,” said Altamirano of his wards.

“The boys were very positive coming into the game and vowed to come back.”

Kevin Ferrer paced UST with 14 points.
