
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) – Vice President Jejomar Binay will name his running mate soon.
Binay admitted that the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) is in final talks with his possible running mate – who the vice president described as a “veteran politician.”
He said on Wednesday (September 16) that UNA is now 85 to 90 percent sure that he would run with a “guy” veteran politician, which he stilkl refused to name.
While Binay declined to give further details, he claimed that he and his running mate would be able to help each other win.
If the talks could be finalized within the week, Binay said he would probably announce who his running mate would be next week.
If the talks should fail, Binay said they would turn to a second option. He also refused to give details.
According to earlier reports, Binay was in talks with Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to be his running mate.

After being put on a hot seat by the students of the University of the Philippines Los Baños on Tuesday, Binay spoke with businessmen the next day.

In a mining conference in Parañaque, Binay said he would push for responsible mining if he shoudl become president.
According to Binay, mining taxes should be fair and should be based on international standards.
Businessmen applauded his propositions.
