Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Meralco customers will see a P0.57 per kilowatt hour (kWh) reduction in their electricity bills this September, marking the fifth consecutive month that the electricity distributor has slashed its overall electricity rates.
For a household consuming 200 kWh a month, savings will amount to P114.
If your consumption ranges from 300 to 400 kWh a month, expect a reduction of P171 to P228.
Those consuming as much as 500 kWh a month will pay P285 less.
Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga said that sufficient power supply helped lower electricity costs.
Prices in the electricity market where the power distributor buys a part of its supply are also low.
Meralco said that the downtrend may continue for the rest of the year as consumption normally goes down in the cooler months.
