
Dumaguete City (CNN Philippines) — The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office has deployed over 400 cops to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Cebu City.
Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos, provincial director, said police officers who would not be deployed would adjust their working hours and only a skeletal force would do administrative duties.
Other cops temporarily relieved from administrative duties would have to do extra street patrols in the morning and evening.
Carlos said Dir. Gen. Ricardo Marquez, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), directed that only 5% of cops would do administrative duties, would 95% will do police operations by adjusting their schedules.
In Dumaguete City, Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN) members and other volunteer groups have been activated, along with barangay tanods.
Carlos asked for the cooperation of hotel, resort, and restaurant owners to ensure the safety of the delegates
