Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — San Beda Red Lions squandered a huge lead, but managed to take a 92-81 win over a pesky San Sebastian Stags in Thursday’s (August 13) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at The Arena in San Juan.
Ola Adeogun sizzled with 28 points and 12 rebounds as the Red Lions grabbed a share of the lead with Letran Knights with identical 7-1 win-loss records.
The Stags, meanwhile, fell to 2-7.
In the opening game, Lyceum Pirates repulsed the Emilio Aguinaldo College, 69-55,
Cameroonian big man Jean Nguidjol had 12 points, 13 rebounds, and two blocks to lead the Pirates to their second win in nine outings.
Joseph Gabayni added 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Generals also reeled to 2-7 with the loss.
Holding the league’s worst record before the game, the Pirates rolled on to a hot start and took a commanding 40-25 lead at the half.
The Generals fought back and sliced the deficit to six. But Lyceum plowed through some rough stretches and regained steam to put the game away.
