Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The camp of detained Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada has asked the Sandiganbayan to summon Sen. Teofisto Guingona III, to get a hold of certain documents the former could use in his bail hearing.
Guingona is the chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, which previously carried out a probe on the alleged pork barrel scam.
The detained senator said that if not Guingona, a subpoena could be issued to the director general of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee secretariat, Atty. Rodolfo Noel Quimbo.
Estrada, whose bail petition is currently being heard before the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division, wants Guingona or Quimbo to appear before the clerk of court and bring the forensic examination reports by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The report was on the examination of pork scam whistleblower Benhur Luy’s external hard drive along with the copies of the digital files and printouts of its contents.
Estrada has been detained since June 2014 for his alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam along with fellow Sens. Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. and Juan Ponce Enrile.
