Hanna weakens but Storm Signal No.1 raised over Batanes

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Typhoon Hanna (international name: Soudelor), weakened on Wednesday night (August 5) as it continued to move in a west-northwest at 20 kph, according to the 11:00 p.m. bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronmical Services Administration (PAGASA)

As of 1:00 a.m. Thursday (August 6), the eye of Typhoon Hanna was located at 995 km east of Basco, Batanes.

It had maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 210 km per hour.

PAGASA raised Storm Signal No. 1 over the Batanes group of islands.

Fisherfolk were advised not to venture ouit over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon, the seaboards of Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
