
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) – Typhoon Hanna (internationally known as Soundelor) maintained its strength as it moved closer to Batanes early on Thursday, August 6, according to the 5:00 a.m. update of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 4 a.m. the typhoon was spotted at 955 km east of Basco, Batanes.
It was moving west-north west at 20 kph with maximum sustained winds of 175 km per hour at the center and a gustiness of up to 210 km per hour.
Public Signal No. 1 is still up over the Batanes group of Islands.
PAGASA added that estimated rainfall amout is from moderate to heave within the 650 km diameter of the typhoon.
