Laoag City (CNN Philippines) — Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos bared on Monday (August 3) that she might run for representative of the province’s first district in 2016.
Marcos, who also served as representative for the second district of the Ilocos Norte from 1998 to 2007, recently registered as a voter in Laoag City which belongs to the first district.
“During a meeting with the barangay chairmen of Laoag City, Bongbong [Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr.] announced that I might be running for a different position in the next election,” said Marcos.
Marcos can still run for another term as governor in 2016, but she allegedly wants to face Rep. Rudy Fariñas due to political differences.
“But I will first discuss this matter with Bongbong and our mother before we finalize our plans,” she said.
She added that her children might also join the political race in Ilocos Norte next year.
