Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Liberal Party (LP) President and Transportation Secretary Jun Abaya on Monday (June 15) said Senator Grace Poe is still the party’s top choice for vice president and running mate of LP’s presumed standard bearer, Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, come 2016.
Abaya said so far no other personalities are being considered by LP other than Poe, who apparently share the administration’s vision of “Tuwid na Daan.”
Poe’s strong numbers in recent surveys is also one of the factors why the administration party is seriously eyeing her for the VP position.
Abaya, meanwhile, said he is not privy to President Benigno Aquino III’s meetings with other possible candidates – including Senator Chiz Escudero, who is a close friend of both Aquino and Poe.
Aquino said last week that he is planning to meet Poe – and possibly Escudero – this week.
