FIBA 3×3: Philippines loses to Poland, bounces back against Hungary

Paras had 15 points in the win over Hungary.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Philippine team dropped its debut game in the FIBA 3×3 Under-18 World Championship, losing to Poland, 15-13, on Thursday in Debrecen, Hungary.

Teen sensation Kobe Paras scored nine points to lead Philippines, while Ricci Rivero had four markers.

After the game Paras went on social media and took the blame for the loss.

“This 1st game was my fault. Sorry to all the people who are supporting us. I’ve made too much mistakes. We will definitely bounce back!” Paras said in a tweet.

And bounce back they did.

In a later game, Philippines, which also has Michael Nieto and Richard Escoto, grabbed a close 19-18 win over host country Hungary.

Paras spearheaded the nationals with 15 points.
