
(CNN Philippines) — The Meralco Bolts improved to 3-3 after taking down the Blackwater Elite, 87-72, in their Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup clash at the SMART Araneta Coliseum on Friday (May 29).
The Bolts were charged by the performances of Andre Emmett and Gary David who scored 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Trailing by 22-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Bolts slowly found their groove to erase the deficit and control the game.
Meralco finally got some separation at the end of the third quarter after a 11-4 run gave them the 63-56 advantage before the final period.
There was nothing Blackwater could do in the fourth quarter as the Bolts cruised to a comfortable victory.
Marcus Douthit was the leading scorer for the Elite, scoring 15 points in the loss.
Blackwater remained at the bottom of the league standings with a 1-5 slate.
