NBA Playoffs: Cavs shoot down Hawks for 2-0 series lead

(CNN Philippines) – The Cleveland Cavaliers snatched a 2-0 lead in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Eastern Conference finals after disposing of the Atlanta Hawks, 94-82, on Saturday PHT (May 23).

LeBron James led the Cavaliers’ attack and finished one rebound shy of a triple-double with 30 points, 11 assists, and nine boards.

Iman Shumpert scored 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Matthew Dellavedova and Timofey Mozgov added 11 and 10 points, respecitvely.

Kyrie Irving didn’t play in the game because of an ailing left knee.

Cleveland was only up by five points at the half, 54-49, before going on an outburst in the third quarter. The Cavs put up 30 points, 11 coming from James, against the Hawks’ 17 to break the game wide open.

Atlanta, who at one point was down by as much as 20 points, never recovered, eventually dropping their second straight game in the series at home.

Dennis Schroder had 13 points off the bench for the Hawks, while Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, and Al Horford scored 12 points apiece in the loss.
