NBA: Team effort helps Cavs advance to East finals; Rockets force Game 7

(CNN Philippines) — The Cleveland Cavaliers eliminated the Chicago Bulls with a 94-73 win in Game 6 to book a seat in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Eastern Conference finals on Friday PHT (May 15).

LeBron James struggled from the field, finishing with only 15 points, but got massive contributions from his peers.

Matthew Dellavedova scored 19 points and Tristan Thompson had a double-double of 13 points and 17 rebounds.

Cleveland was only up by a basket after the first quarter, 33-31, but blew the game wide open in the second to establish a 14-point margin, which the Bulls never recovered from.

Chicago’s Jimmy Butler had 20 points in a losing cause.

Out West, the Houston Rockets beat the Los Angeles Clippers, 119-107, to force a do-or-die Game 7.

James Harden had 23 points, while Dwight Howard threw his weight around for 20 points and 21 rebounds for the Rockets, who outscored Los Angeles in the fourth period 40-15.

Josh Smith and Corey Brewer each added 19 markers.

Blake Griffin and Chris Paul combined for 59 points to lead the Clippers.
