Mayweather to relinquish all titles

(CNN Philippines) —  Fresh from his victory over Manny Pacquiao, undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. promised to vacate all of the title belts that he has won.

As a result of beating Pacquiao via unanimous decision, Mayweather united the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC), and World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight titles.

“I think Monday (Tuesday PHT) I’m going to relinquish all my belts. My last fight may not be a championship fight,” said Mayweather.

“Other fighters need to have a chance. I’m not greedy.”

Mayweather is under contract to do one more fight for Showtime which will take place in September against a to-be-announced opponent.

The fight on September will be the last one for the undefeated American before finally retiring.

“My last fight is in September, then it’s time for me to hang it up,” said Mayweather.

Mayweather’s final bout is planned to be a non-title bout that will go for twelve rounds.
