(CNN Philippines) — Another hike in pump prices awaits motorists on Tuesday (May 5) with PTT, Shell, Caltex, and Petron set to raise their gasoline prices by P0.95 per liter and diesel prices by P0.65 per liter.
Shell, Caltex, and Petron are also hiking their kerosene by P0.50 per liter.
The series of fuel price hikes, meanwhile, prompted members of transport group Alliance of Concerned Transport Operators to demand a P1 increase in jeepney fares.
Energy Undersecretary Zenaida Monsada, however, turned down the said demand, saying the fare increase is not justified at this point.
Monsada explained that current diesel costs are still lower than last year’s prevailing prices.
