(CNN Philippines) — Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario will go on leave this month to undergo a medical procedure on his back that is “long overdue,” Assistant Secretary Charles Jose, spokesperson of the Department of Foreign Affairs, said in a news conference on Monday (May 4).
Jose added he did not know if Del Rosario had already filed his leave, but he said that an officer-in-charge (OIC) would be appointed in the DFA chief’s absence for a few weeks.
The appointment of an OIC will “not be based on seniority,” Jose said.
