(CNN Philippines) — While all of the world will have their eyeballs firmly set on Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. when the two ring warriors square off in boxing’s biggest stage, there are four other personalities worth keeping an eye on.
The third man on the ring and the three judges who will score the bout touted as the Fight of the Century.
Kenny Bayless, 54, will be the referee for the fight that will be held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. It is worth noting that Bayless refereed Mayweather’s pro debut in October 1996 against Roberto Apodaca. The fight that also happened in Las Vegas was stopped in Round 2.
He likewise refereed for the Mayweather-De La Hoya bout in 2007 with Mayweather winning via split decision.
Bayless was also on assignment for seven Pacquiao fights dating back to 2006, including the Filipino’s knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marrquez during their fourth encounter.
The judges, meanwhile, who will score the fight are Burt Clements, Glenn Feldman and Dave Moretti.
Moretti, 70, is from Las Vegas and has worked on nine Mayweather bouts and six of Pacquiao’s fights.
Feldman, the founder of the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame, has never judged a Pacquiao fight. He has only worked on one Mayweather fight — against Miguel Melo in a bout staged in Connecticut.
The 62-year-old Clements was a judge during the Pacquiao-Marquez I fight that ended up as a draw. Clements admitted after the fight that he didn’t realize that he could score a round more lopsided than 10-7. Pacquiao knocked Marquez three times during the first round that could have earned him a 10-6 score — a point for winning the round and three more points for each knockdown.
But Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, appears to be confident with the four people who will call the fight.
“I think we have a great referee,” Roach said. “I think we have some good judges, people that I’m familiar with my whole life. I think they’ll give us a fair call, and I trust this will happen.”
According to Dan Rafael of sports website ESPN, referee Kenny Bayless is set to make $25,000 for the fight. While the three judges will be paid $20,000 each.
