Metro Manila, Philippines - The Philippines marks another sports milestone as host of the 2029 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship.

FIVB president Fabio Azevedo and Brazilian volleyball legend and Senator Leila Barros made the announcement on Sunday, Sept. 28 before the final of the 2025 Men’s World Championship between back-to-back champion Italy and Bulgaria at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

“The Women's Volleyball World Championship 2029 will be in the Philippines,” Barrios, a sports icon admired by many Filipinos in the early 2000, said.

“Hosting the Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2029 in the Philippines is an opportunity to again showcase not only the very best of volleyball but also the positive impact our sport has on society,” Azevedo said.

This marks the second time in the last three editions that the global showpiece will take place in Southeast Asia. Thailand hosted the competition this year, while the US and Canada will co-host in 2027.

Italy is the reigning champion in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship.
