‘KPop Demon Hunters’ is Netflix’s most popular film
Metro Manila, Philippines - “Kpop Demon Hunters” just keeps going up, up, up, as it is now officially the “most popular Netflix film of all time.”
After premiering in late June, Netflix announced on Wednesday, Aug. 27, that “Kpop Demon Hunters” has hit 236 million views – pushing out the 230.9 million views set by the 2021 American action-comedy film “Red Notice.”
According to the streaming service, “Kpop Demon Hunters” has been in the Top 10 for 10 weeks and counting.
The 2025 animated musical film follows three K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey who secretly fight demons and are tasked to secure the “honmoon,” a barrier that separates the human and demon worlds.
American website Rotten Tomatoes rated it 97 percent fresh, with a critics consensus: “Animated with infectious energy and vibrant colors, KPop Demon Hunters is jaunty family entertainment with a terrific soundtrack to boot.”
The cast is helmed by Arden Cho, who voices the Huntr/x lead vocalist Rumi, and Ahn Hyo-seop, who lent his voice for Jinu, the leader of rival group Saja Boys.
Netflix said the film’s soundtrack was the first to have four simultaneous Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
Known hits from the movie include “Golden” and “Takedown,” which some members of K-pop girl group Twice also covered.
