TBA Studios drops trailer for ‘Quezon’
Metro Manila, Philippines - Anticipation is building up for “Bayaniverse” fans as TBA Studios released the official trailer for historical biopic “Quezon” on Tuesday, Aug. 19 – coinciding with the 147th birth anniversary of Manuel L. Quezon.
The trailer featured a charming and slightly comedic Jericho Rosales as Quezon, when he was challenging Emilio Aguinaldo, played by Mon Confiado, for the Philippine presidency in 1935.
“Quezon” is not only a political fight between the two, but the fight for Philippine independence from the United States.
The film also concludes TBA Studios’ “Bayaniverse” trilogy, following “Heneral Luna” in 2015 and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” in 2018.
TBA Studios President and COO Daphne O. Chiu-Soon said “Quezon” is a testament to their commitment to bring the very best of Philippine cinema to movie theaters.
“With this, ‘Quezon’ is designed to be a compelling stand-alone cinematic experience for all audiences, whether they’ve seen the previous films or not,” she said in a statement.
Scottish actor and “Game of Thrones” star Iain Glen will bring Governor-General Leonard Wood to life, while Arron Villaflor will reprise his role as the fictional character Joven Hernando.
Other cast members include Cris Villanueva, Romnick Sarmenta, Karylle, JC Santos, and Jake Macapagal.
“Quezon” will hit local theaters on Oct. 15. An international release date has yet to be announced.
TBA Studios will also offer special ticket prices for students and teachers.
