Metro Manila, Philippines - Several parts of Visayas experienced flooding on Thursday, July 17, due to the effects of the southwest monsoon or habagat.

Residents and motorists in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental waded through ankle-deep floods.

The city government of Kabankalan said more than 400 residents or 105 families from four barangays evacuated to temporary shelters. Authorities were also monitoring the rising water level at the Camugao Bridge.

Locals in Mina-a village, located in Ibajay town, Aklan, also moved to higher grounds due to severe floods.

The habagat dumped occasional rains over Western Visayas, Negros Island region, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro. The monsoon also brought cloudy skies over the rest of the country.

Tropical Depression Crising also drenched some areas in the eastern portion of the country.
